About the Community Health Program

The Community Health Program is for all eligible clients who wish to participate in Medical Services and Health & Wellness Advancement, while honoring Traditional and Cultural Understanding.

Nevada Urban Indians offer clients limited medical assessments and treatment, which focuses on prevention, education, and self-management. In addition, clients are able to participate in monthly functions hosted by the Community Health staff. Once a month, Nevada Urban Indians, Inc. hosts a diabetic nutritional demonstration, in which a lunch is prepared on site to demonstrate to clients how to prepare a simple, nutritious, and economical meal that falls within recommended dietary guidelines.

Along with the healthy food preparation, clients learn about diabetes, weight control, and food elements. The goal is to educate and encourage a healthier lifestyle of eating patterns.
